Questa affermazione mi ha sempre affascinato: utilizzare materiali e cose già usate è segno di civiltà, ma poter utilizzare le stesse cose usate per scopi diversi per cui sono state costruite o utilizzate, ti fa sentire un po’ inventore e se l’utilizzo è creativo puoi passare anche per artista.

Riutilizzare oggetti tecnologici obsoleti e dismessi come parti di macchine e di attrezzature è come scrivere un libro di STORIA INDUSTRIALE.

In effetti, chi lavora nel mondo della produzione e conosce l’arte del fare, non pensa minimamente al fatto che il suo manufatto possa essere un’ OPERA D’ARTE … è come per le grandi opere, solo dopo tanto tempo diventano importanti e vengono capite …

In questi ultimi anni non avrei voluto buttare niente, ogni pezzo meccanico lo identificavo come un oggetto da riutilizzare; pezzi costruiti 30-40 anni fa, con sistemi e metodi ormai dimenticati, ma con grande manualità e creatività, pezzi d’autore!!

Avete mai visto un “modello meccanico” in legno, di cirmolo, pulito e levigato con tutte le venature e con il suo profumo intenso di montagna, trasformato in “banco bar “….? oppure una “maschera di foratura” per comandi oleodinamici …con tutte le bussole in acciaio temperato, costruita e realizzata manualmente, con precisione centesimale, trasformato in “scrigno portagioie”… o anche pezzi di un motore elettrico trasformati in “lampada da tavolo” e pezzi di macchine utensili in “tavolini da bar” ….

Nothing is created, nothing is destroyed… Everything is transformed!

This saying has always fascinated me: using materials and things that have already been used is a sign of civility, but being able to use the same things for purposes other than those for which they were built or intended, makes you feel like an inventor and if the use is creative you can even seem like an artist.

Re-using obsolete and unused technological objects as machine and equipment parts is like writing a book on INDUSTRIAL HISTORY.

Indeed, whoever works in the production world and understands the art of making gives scarcely a thought to the fact that his product could be considered a WORK OF ART… it’s the same with great works, only after a long time do they become important and understood…

Over the past few years I have never wanted to throw away anything; each mechanical part I identified as an item to be re-used; pieces made 30-40 years ago, with systems and methods now forgotten, but with great dexterity and creativity, pieces “d’auteur”!!

Have you ever seen a “mechanical model” in wood of Swiss Stone Pine, cleaned and sanded, displaying the grain and with an intense perfume of the mountains, transformed into a bar counter…?

Or a “drilling jig” for hydraulic controls… with all the bushings in tempered steel, built and made by hand with centesimal accuracy, transformed into a “jewellery case” … or even the pieces of an electric motor transformed into a “table lamp” and machine tool parts turned into “bar tables”…
