Il comparto produttivo industriale e artigianale si sta evolvendo.

La globalizzazione sta alzando la soglia di capacità del “saper-fare”ed essere dei buoni artigiani (o piccoli imprenditori) non è più sufficiente.

Le tecnologie stanno raggiungendo livelli molto alti di sofisticazione e l’azienda ha bisogno di tecnici molto specializzati con costi elevati di gestione.

Inoltre, il prodotto con scarso contenuto tecnologico, ovvero con know-how reperibile sul mercato, rende l’azienda vulnerabile dagli attacchi commerciali dei paesi con basso costo di manodopera.

L’area produttiva Bergamasca vantava le aziende più importanti a livello mondiale nella costruzione di torni automatici per la lavorazione del legno, oggi queste aziende sono quasi storia: archeologia industriale.

In sintesi, la necessità di attrezzature e macchine fece nascere i costruttori di macchine che, giornalmente sperimentavano, a proprie spese, ciò che costruivano, lavorando e producendo i pezzi torniti dai loro stessi clienti.

La sperimentazione era diretta e la tecnologia avanzava con la logica e la perspicacia del fare.

Introduction

The industrial and artisan production sector is evolving.

Globalisation is raising the threshold of people’s expertise and the ability to be good craftsmen (or small-scale businessmen) is no longer enough.

Technologies are reaching new heights of sophistication and companies need highly specialised technicians with high costs of management.

Furthermore, a product with poor technological content, or with know-how available on the market, makes a company vulnerable to commercial challenges from countries with low labour costs.

The Bergamask production area boasted the world’s most important automatic wood processing lathe manufacturing companies. Today these companies are almost historic: industrial archaeology.

In short, the need for equipment and machines led to the establishment of machine manufacturers which experimented on a daily basis, at their expense, on what they constructed, working and producing the pieces turned by their same customers.

The experimentation was direct and technology advanced hand in hand with logic and innovation.
