E’ il club storico e artistico-culturale che raccoglie il patrimonio esperienziale di tutti coloro che, con il proprio lavoro hanno condiviso le conoscenze nel settore della torneria del legno.

KAFIRO: Kafiro è il modello di tornio per la lavorazione del legno che ha reso “grande” la ditta Genini negli anni del boom economico e produttivo in Italia.

Nella metà degli anni ’70 si producevano 370 macchine l’anno , di vari modelli… una al giorno !

Come? con l’aiuto dei suoi grandi collaboratori, dirigenti, maestranze… tutti coloro i quali si impegnavano nel lavoro di squadra con la Genini.

Oggi, tutte queste persone, possono essere ” I Kafiri”.

 

PERCHE’: l’idea è nata nel 2006 quando, molto timidamente, si sono sentiti i primi (ma già importanti) segnali d’allarme della crisi produttiva. Era da anni che si modificavano situazioni storiche radicate ed era evidente che il punto culminante per il cambiamento (breakpoint) era vicino e non volevo perciò che tutti i ricordi andassero perduti.

CHI SONO I SOSTENITORI : Sono i tornitori del legno, sono i costruttori di macchine per la torneria, sono i dipendenti … gli ex dipendenti .. gli amici, i simpatizzanti .. tutti coloro che sono stati e si sentono in qualche modo vicini al settore ed al legno in generale.

CHI SONO I KAFIRI : Kafiri o  Kalash sono un popolo del Pakistan nord occidentale, sono arroccati fra i monti dell’Hindokush. Difendono la loro identità culturale e misteriosa di 4 mila anni di storia e vengono chiamati “infedeli” (Kafiri) perché non appartengono a religioni rivelate. La loro attività principale è il legno : vivono “lavorando il legno”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

PERCHE’ “I KAFIRI DEL XX SECOLO” : Perché è nella seconda metà del XX Secolo che è stato lo sviluppo maggiore dell’attività “torneria legno”. Perché è sempre in questo periodo che la produzione ha raggiunto il culmine e perché ora stiamo perdendo e dimenticando le nostre esperienze, il nostro sapere perché …

Who we are

We are a historic artistic-cultural club that gathers together the experiential heritage of all those who, through their work, have shared their knowledge in the wood turning sector.

KAFIRO: Kafiro is the model of lathe used for turning wood that made the company Genini “great” during the years of Italy’s economic and productive boom. In the mid-seventies, the company was producing 370 machines a year, of various models: one per day!

How? With the help of its great partners, directors, craftsmen… all of who were committed to working as a team with Genini.

Today, all these people, can be called, “Kafirs”.

 WHY? the idea arose in 2006 when the first weak (but significant) alarm signals of a production crisis were perceived. For many years, circumstances rooted in history had been changing and it was clear that break point was near, and therefore I didn’t want all memories to be lost.

WHO ARE THE SUPPORTERS: they are wood turners, they are manufacturers of turning machines, they are employees… former employees…. friends, supporters… all those who have been and feel, in some way, close to the sector and to wood in general.

WHO ARE THE “KAFIRS”: the Kafir or Kalash are people from north-west Pakistan, who live among the mountains of the Hindokush. They have been defending their cultural and mysterious identity for 4,000 years and are known as “infidels” (Kafir) because they do not belong to a recognised religion. Their main activity is “working with wood”.

WHY THE “KAFIRS OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY”: because in the second half of the twentieth century, there was the greatest development of the “wood turning” activity. Because again in this period, production reached its peak and because now we are losing and forgetting our experience, our know-how…
